Louis E.  DiGironimo
Louis E. DiGironimo,90, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Stamford on December 24, 1927 to the late Philip and Vincenza Gamella DiGironimo.
Louis was a Police Officer with the Stamford Police Department for 41 years before retiring in 1992. He was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1947 after serving one year in the Army in WWII. He enjoyed taking family and vacation movies, playing the organ and teaching dance, as well as spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Joanne Rupar and her husband Robert of Norwalk, grandchildren Brian Rupar and his wife Krystal and their children Abigail, Victoria and Madisyn of Norwalk, Kristyn Brown and her husband Rusharn and their children Kaysha and Rusharn, Jr. of Waterbury, as well as his nieces Ann Allison, Joan and Donna Giannattasio, Janet Witkowski and Gloria Witkowski McKay.
Besides his parents, Louis was predeceased by his wife Louise Marino DiGironimo and his sister Anastasia “Ann” Giannattasio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Bridget of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow for Louise and Louis at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Norwalk. There will be no calling hours. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the DiGironimo family with the arrangements.
