Obituary for Vera K. Maceluch

Vera K. Maceluch
Vera Kathryn Maceluch, 70 of Stamford passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Stamford Hospital. She was born in Stamford February 5, 1948 to the late Theodore and Kathryn Goral Maceluch.

Vera’s childhood years were spent in both Stamford, Connecticut and Newark, New Jersey. Her love of family led her first to work alongside her brother and parents at the family bakery in Newark, and later in Stamford assisting the family business in real estate.

Her lifelong passion for helping others was evident in both her work life and spare time. A longtime and proud member of St. Vladimir's Church and St. Basil's Seminary, Vera was a dedicated volunteer donating both her time and money to various causes within the Ukrainian community. A proud member of the Connecticut State Ukrainian Day Committee, Vera worked on-site and behind the scenes for the Ukrainian Day Festival held annually at St. Basil's Seminary. She had managed the Theological Seminary Fund office and also assisted at the national convention for the League of Ukrainian Catholics, conducting tours of the Ukrainian Catholic Seminary, the Ukrainian Museum, St. Basil's College, the Franciscan Bay Protection Monastery and Our Mother of God Academy.

Vera’s love for helping others was also reflected in her work as a doula. Assisting mothers of newborns, Vera thoroughly enjoyed every minute spent caring for each and every precious little baby and tending to their needs.

Due to the result of an illness, Vera spent the last decade at Long Ridge Acute Care
receiving around the clock assistance. A demanding adjustment to her lifestyle and her role as caregiver. With her faith in God and her family by her side Vera conquered every day with fortitude and assurance knowing that all things beautiful await her in heaven.

There is no doubt all who have had the pleasure of knowing Vera will remember her for her generosity and her compassion.

Vera is survived by her sister-in-law Jeanette Maceluch of Stamford, two nephews, Warren Maceluch of Stamford and Christopher Maceluch of Pound Ridge, NY, two nieces, Noel Buckner of Newtown, CT and Denise Maceluch of Venice Beach, CA as well as her great niece and great nephews, Nathaniel, Maureen, Max, Logan, Dylan and Jack.
