Lena Cocchia, a longtime resident of Stamford passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Lena was born in Minturno, Italy, daughter to the late Antonio and Annamaria Alicandro Rizzi.
Lena is survived by her daughter Lily Ann Cichon-O’Connell of Stamford, her step-daughter Susan Frattalone and her husband Michael of Monroe, step-son Frank Cocchia and his wife Lori of Norwalk. She is also survived by her sister Mildred Cogliandro of Riverside, along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents Lena is predeceased by her beloved husbands Peter Pirro, and Frank Cocchia. She is also predeceased by her brothers Nicholas, James, and Eugene Rizzi, and her sisters Mary Tornatore, Vincie Balducci, and Felicia Stramandinoli.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jeanede Petion, Rose Telima, and all the staff of Vitas Healthcare, with a special thank you to Dr. Brian Hennessey and Father Andrew Vill for the care they provided that went above and beyond.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of St. John the Evangelist, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 10:30AM. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien, CT.
