Kathleen N. Toner, 92, a longtime resident of Stamford passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 3, 2017. She was born in Norwalk on May 10, 1924 to the late Catherine and Patrick Nolan.
Kay was a member of the Ladies’ Ancient Order of the Hibernians Stamford, as well as a longtime member of St. Maurice R.C. Church. She was a former employee of Machett Laboratories in Springdale where she met her loving husband Rem. She was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping, and spending time with her family. Kay’s family was her greatest joy. She was a prayerful person with a lifelong devotion to St. John Bosco.
Kay is survived by her four loving children, Mary Pat and her husband Mark Sweeney, of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Kathleen and her husband Jeff Agonito of Fairfield, CT, Sheila Toner of Stamford, CT, Richard and his wife Lynn Toner, of Westfield, NJ. Kay is also survived by her sister in-law, Dr. Margaret C. Toner of Stamford, and six grandchildren; Nora and Macklin Sweeney, Patrick and Thomas Agonito, Hannah and Brian Toner.
Besides her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Redmond F. Toner, as well as her two brothers James and Vincent Nolan.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Maurice R.C. Church, 358 Glenbrook Rd, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
