Theodoros E. Tournas, 94, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 13, 2017. He was born in Agios Konstantinos, Greece on April 25, 1922 to the late Efstathios and Giannoula Foundas Tournas.
Theodoros was an employee of Clairol for nine years before retiring and was an active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Stamford. He also enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Grigoria Louridas Tournas of Stamford, his loving daughters, Joann Rassias and her husband John of Stamford, Vaso Tsihlis and her husband Ilias of Greece, Eleni Tournas and her husband Peter of Stamford, a son in law Bobby Giangos of Stamford as well as his eight grandchildren, Dennis Rassias, Voula Varnavelias, Chris Tsihlis, Angela Frazis, Evangelia Tsihlis, Dimitrios Tournas, Anthony Giangos and Theodoros Giangos and seven great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Theodoros was predeceased by his daughter Irini Giangos, two brothers Peter and George Tournas and a sister Irene Tournas.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 9:30 AM for a funeral service to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland Place, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, January 16, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM with a Trisagion service to be celebrated at 7:00 PM.
