Charles P. Calka, 88, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Stamford Hospital. He was born on September 30, 1928 in Greenwich to the late Joseph and Katherine Grabarz Calka.
Charles was a carpenter for fifty years with various companies throughout his life. He was a US Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a former member of the Greenwich and Stamford Pigeon Club, a fan of the UCONN Womens basketball team and an avid golfer.
He is survived by his sister Mary C. Filardo and his brother Joseph F. Calka and his wife Ann, all of Stamford, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Charles was also predeceased by his wife Sheila McGrath and four brothers John, Edward, Anthony and Bruno Calka.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, North Street, Greenwich. There will be no calling hours.
