Frances Josephine Brocklebank, 76, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 18 at Greenwich Hospital after a brief illness.
Born May 16, 1940 in Johannesburg, South Africa, Frances was a daughter of the late Frank Joseph and Adriana Catherina Brocklebank. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Selina Elizabeth Brocklebank.
Having begun her career as a legal secretary in Johannesburg, Frances immigrated to the United States in 1974 to continue working as a legal secretary – first at Pierson, Duel and Holland, which later became Duel and Holland, then Holland Kaufmann & Bartels, LLC, before merging with Shipman & Goodwin LLP in 2005. At the time of her passing, Frances was actively employed at Shipman & Goodwin, LLP and was extremely proud of her over fifty year tenure in the legal profession. She was pleased to be naturalized as a U.S. Citizen in 1980.
A deeply devout Catholic, avid music lover, loyal friend and meticulous worker, Frances will be deeply missed by a great number of colleagues, neighbors and friends, particularly by her wire fox terrier, Victoria “Toria” Louise.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Clement Church, 535 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will take place at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 399 North Street, Greenwich. There will be no calling hours.
