Gary J. Livia, Jr., 44, of Cos Cob, passed away peacefully at Greenwich Hospital on Thursday June 23, 2016 surrounded by his loving family after a brave battle with cancer. Gary was born in Bridgeport, CT on November 18, 1971 to the late Gary J. Livia, Sr. and Anna Sutay Truglia.
Gary was raised in Stratford, attending Stratford and Lordship Schools and playing little league for Raybestos in Stratford during his grammar school days. He graduated Bullard Haven Technical School in Bridgeport and after moved to Stamford to work in lawn care, eventually becoming Maintenance Supervisor for Ceci Bros. Gary had a love for gardening and horticulture, enjoyed fishing and skiing in his younger days and going every year to Lake George with his family. Gary was also a member of the East Side Cardinals Club in Stamford.
Gary is survived by his wife Lisa Zicarelli Livia of Cos Cob, his children, Caysy, Jacob and Jordan Livia, all of Cos Cob, his mother, Anna Truglia and her husband Anthony of Stamford, his mother and father-in-law Barbara and Lorenzo Zicarelli of Stamford, his sister-in-law Angelina England and her husband Derek of Paramus, NJ, his sister-in-law Susan Zicarelli of Cos Cob and his brother-in-law Lawrence Zicarelli of Stamford. His nieces and nephews, Jackson and Madison England and Savannah and Andrei Vaida as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Besides his father Gary is predeceased by his grandmothers Theresa Salvaggio Biebel and Alice Stevenson Stover.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Saturday July 2, 2016 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM, with a prayer service to be held at 1:30PM. Interment will be private.
A special thanks to the Oncology Department of Greenwich Hospital and Dr. Dickerman Hollister who went above and beyond in their care for Gary.
