Thomas A.  Monos
Thomas A. Monos, 88, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Lemnos, Greece on June 19, 1927 to the late Anthony T. and Olympia Comninellis Monos.
Thomas was a self-employed entrepreneur, a Cantor at both the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and the Church of the Archangels of Stamford for many years, as well as a member of the Senior Club at both Churches. Thomas was a religious man and had a very outgoing personality with a zest for life and a deep love for his family and friends. He was a prolific writer of poetry and fluently spoke five different languages. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife Mary Geanaton Monos of Stamford, his loving children Olympia Flanagan of MA, Anthony T. Monos of Norwalk, as well as two grandchildren and a niece.
Besides his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his son Basil Monos and a sister Dorothy Mudrow.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 10:30 AM for a Funeral Service to be celebrated at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland Place, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on TONIGHT, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 5:30-7:30 PM with a Trisagion Service to be held at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Thomas’ memory to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905 and to the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford, CT 06905
