Vincenzo Laccona, 81, of Stamford, passed away suddenly on Friday April 29, 2015. Vincenzo was born in Martone, R.C., Italy on December 18, 1934 to the late Salvatore and Maria Rosa Agostino Laccona.
Vincenzo immigrated to the United States on April 8, 1972 and worked as a welder for Baldwin Technology before retiring. His pride and joy was his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, visiting his homeland in Italy and also had a passion for word searches.
Vincenzo is survived by his wife Vincenza “Mela” Stelina Laccona of Stamford, his son Giorgio Laccona and his wife Josephine of Stamford, his daughter Laura Sestito and her husband Angelo of Stamford, his son-in-law Natale Maiolo of Stamford, his sister-in-law Josephine Laccona of Stamford, his brother Giorgio Laccona of Italy and his sister Olga Palermo of Italy. Six grandchildren; Cindy, Michelle, Jennifer, Melissa, Vanessa and Giorgio, eight great-grandchildren; Luca, Thomas, Emma, Dante, Matthew, Andrew, Isabella and Michael, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his parents, Vincenzo was predeceased by his daughter Isabella “Rosa” Maiolo and his brother Antonio Laccona.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at 9:40AM and proceed to St. Leo’s RC Church, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30AM. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday May 3, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
