Jeannette “Jeannie” Zurzola, 83, a life-long resident of Stamford passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October 8, 2015. She was born in Stamford on June 24, 1932 to the late Anthony Rich, Sr. and Concetta Candelmo Rich.
Jeannie worked as a waitress at Country Tavern and La Bretagne Restaurant for many years before retirement in 2000. She also enjoyed cooking authentic Italian dishes and was known for creating the most incredibly delicious meals - prepared to perfection, and did so in the most modest of kitchens. She made her home the place to be for sharing a good home-cooked meal and the spreading of love - especially on Sundays.
Jeannie is survived by her loving daughter Lori Sagona and her husband Joseph of Massapequa Park, NY, two loving sons, Joseph M. Zurzola, Jr. of Rockville, CT, Robert Zurzola of New Fairfield, CT and his wife Kelly, three sisters, Gloria Lanzaro of Stamford, Theresa Carlucci of Stamford, Nancy Costanzo of Ridgefield, CT, three brothers Joseph Rich of Stamford, Albert Rich of West Haven, CT and William Rich of Stamford, as well as seven grandchildren Joseph Zurzola III, Angela King, Alyssa Sagona, Amanda Sagona, Emily, Robert and Michael Zurzola and great grandchildren Dyllan, Brianna and Kalie King.
Besides her parents, Jeannie is predeceased by her husband Joseph M. Zurzola, Sr., two brothers Alfonse and Anthony Rich Jr., and two sisters Marie Sarni and Eileen Scarella.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford at 9:40 AM on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, October 12, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
