Obituary for Ralph J. Vagnone

Ralph J. Vagnone, 85, of Stamford, passed away peacefully January 28, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Ralph was born in Stamford on February 16, 1929 to the late Frank and Louise Gentile Vagnone.
Ralph was born and raised in Stamford and graduated Stamford High School Class of 1947. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and upon his return home went to work for Audiotape of Stamford which later became Capital Records. His career spanned 35 years as a foreman having retired in 1989. After his retirement he went to work at the Stamford Hospital as a security guard throughout the 1990s. Ralph was a member in the Third Degree of the Knights of Columbus, Council 41. Ralph was the life of the party, known for his flamboyant personality, he had a love for big band music and was frequently seen at the Piedmont Club, Knights of Columbus, Ponus Yacht Club and The Terrace Club where you would see he and his wife Marcy dancing.
Ralph is survived by his daughters; Debra Pace of Lakewood Ranch FL, Elaine Vagnone of New Canaan, his son Anthony Vagnone and his wife Emma of Memphis, TN, his sisters; Lucy Cerulli of Easton and Anna Lovallo and her husband Joseph of Stamford, his grandchildren; Robert Pettit and his wife Alyson, Christopher Richichi, Alexa O’Rourke and Stephen Vagnone, and his great-grandson Jake Thomas “JT” Pettit. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his parents, Ralph is predeceased by his loving wife Marcella J. Vagnone, his brothers, Anthony and Alfred “Botchie” Vagnone, his brother-in-law Sal Cerulli, his brother-in-law Jim Versis, his sister-in-law Carol Vagnone and his niece Vicki Ann Vagnone.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00PM. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 12:00PM, with Father Leszek P. Szymaszek officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Main Street, New Canaan, CT.
