Obituary for Livia Fortuna

Livia  Fortuna
Giuseppe Fortuna, 91, and Livia Franceschi Fortuna, 86, of Stamford, passed away together peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Smith House Health Care Center within minutes of each other, “together in life, and together in heaven”. Giuseppe was born in Minturno, Italy on January 1, 1922 to the late Stefano and Angela Vento Fortuna. Livia was born on December 12, 1928 in Santa Fiora ,Italy to the late Giovanni and Geltrude Franceschi.
Giuseppe was employed at Clairol as a clamp truck operator and Livia was also employed at Clairol as a production lineworker for many years before they retired. Giuseppe also was a former employee of Paul Bacco & Son Construction and was a member of the Minturnese Club.
They are survived by their loving children, Giuliana DiGeronimo and her husband Lorenzo of Brooklyn, NY, Angela Munzenmaier and her husband Fred of Atlanta, GA and John Fortuna and his wife Veronica of Monroe, GA, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren who were affectionately known to them as Nonno and Nonna. Giuseppe is also survived by his sister Josephine Palumbo of Stamford. Besides their parents, Giuseppe and Livia were predeceased by their son Steve Fortuna.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 9:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s RC Cemetery, Greenwich. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in their son Steve Fortuna’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
