Salvatore Georgio  Scaturchio
Salvatore Georgio Scaturchio, 79 years young, passed away on September 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 24, 1935 in Arena, Provincia of Vibo Valentia Calabria, Italy, Salvatore was the adored son of the late Francesco and Francesca Giamba Scaturchio.
Salvatore was a master mason by trade and took pride in all his work beginning in Italy to Stamford, CT and the surrounding areas. He retired from Pitney Bowes after many years of dedicated service. His main object in life was to provide for his family, which he did. He loved his garden, cooking for the family and spending time with friends and family. He always had a full house which he always enjoyed.
Salvatore was a loving father and is survived by his children; Frank Scaturchio and Anthony and his wife Enza Scaturchio, Kathy Karwaski and her husband Thomas and Frances Greco, all of Stamford. Sal cherished his relationships with his grandchildren; Rose, Frank Jr., Nicholas, Jesica and Sal Scaturchio, Zachary and Anthony Karwaski and Nicholas Greco, as well as his great-grandchild Amia. Salvatore is also survived by his caring brother Pasquale and his wife Marianina Scaturchio of Greensboro, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own children and they always held a special place in his heart.
Besides his parents, Salvatore was predeceased by his devoted wife Caterina Vavala Scaturchio, his older loving brother and sister-in-law Michele and Maria Stella Scaturchio.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday September 19, 2014 at 10:15AM and proceed to St. Bridget of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home TODAY Thursday September 18, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
