This Christmas I thought of years past spent Celebrating the Holiday with Claudia... She was one of very few People I felt had the True Christmas Spirit - one of Giving and Sharing and Joy in the most minute details of making her House a True Christmas Home... The Tree was an Essential part of her Display, and there were always Ornaments with Tales of Importance that went with them... Oh my Dear Claudie ~ I miss you every Day and I send you all my Love - And to you Howard I send a Big Hug and a Squeeze of Strength... May this New Year be Bright for All!

I am so proud of my little Hadassah, she is such a good baby and so cute. I love this blog Lisa, now I can ayawls see my little girl and know what is going on in her life. It is going to be so hard not to be with her all the time!! Keep up the good work and remember I love you all. Mom (Nanna)

I found your blog by pure luck and I really love it. You have a betuiaful daughter, you must be so proud of her. We are also parents of a betuiaful baby boy who is now 6 months old. We would love to have you do a few pictures of him on anything you think would be nice, like a butterfly, or a horse. I am sure that what ever you pick would be good. Karen Thompson - Hi Sue,Hope all is well with you.I just thought I would let you know that Murray the buodllg who was in your original portfolio passed on yesterday. He had problems with cancer and for a while was doing very well after having a leg removed. Unfortunately the cancer came back and to avoid any suffering they took him in yesterday. Dear Malis Family, Claudia was a professional colleague of mine through the SEPA community, the group of educators who hold grants similar to the ones that Claudia received. While I only talked with her for a few hours at conferences, her intensity, sense of focus and purpose were captivating and inspiring. Her film is one of the most outstanding pieces to come out of the SEPA program. Her message and methods will influence all of us for years to come. Although I had no claim to her attention, the force of her personality has left an indelible mark on my conscience. As I am saddened by her loss, you must be devastated. Our paths crossed through her remarkable project, "Why Us?" She was able to share this work with our teachers and made a deep impression on them. I was especially taken with the way Claudia had empowered the young people she worked with to take ownership of the film - that showed real insight and also selflessness. My last memory of her is when I asked her to maybe come to show it again this summer, and she smiled a beautiful smile and said perhaps. She was an absolutely radiant spirit, and I am so saddened by the news of her loss. My heart goes out to her all her friends and family. You will be missed, Claudia.

I was saddened to read of Claudia's passing. We were good friends back in the MacDuffie Days, and I knew Dr. and Mrs. Pryor very well. Dr.Pryor was a professor and academic advisor of mine at WNEC in the 70s. Claudia was always a lot of fun in school, and I'm not surprised she had a full and successful life. I wish I could have been in touch with her more recently. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Extraordinary lives, extraordinary people. Claudia, you were an extraordinary person. And I had an extraordinary moment to meet you. I will always remember you as the beautiful, smiling, warm and intelligent African-American upperclass person with the big Afro at MacDuffie School For Girls, a school I normally would not have attended. You and your parents helped to reinforce identity, self-esteem, culture, how African-American women, how women, how people should be seen and treated. And now you have gone home. My condolences to Claudia's mother and spouse. Mothers usually hope and think they will die before their children. I can remember Mrs. Pryor's comments about her wanting Claudia to have children. But Claudia did reach and impact a lot of children during her life. Thank you Howard Malis for understanding Claudia's passion for the arts, writing, journalism, film and knowledge.

Claudia was kindness, wisdom and intelligence personified. She was completely present. She loved what she did and did it with a fierceness and integrity that was unrivaled. She had such depth of soul and wisdom. She fundamentally understood the human condition and wrapped her arms around it in her stories and with her friends and with strangers. Knowing Claudia was a privilege. I am so sad today, but she gave the world so much in her time with us. In the word's of a sermon I once heard, she did what we all hope to do; she lived a life worth dying for. May we all honor your memory and try and do the same.
