Obituary for Theresa M. Vartuli
Theresa M. Vartuli, 90, a longtime resident of Stamford, passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday, July 10, 2021. Theresa was born on October 17, 1930, in Ariola, Italy, and was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Gallace Sorbara.
Theresa was a devoted wife to the love of her life for 66 years. She was also a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She took great pride in her family and in all of their accomplishments. She loved her garden and loved to cook everything from scratch. Theresa also enjoyed the 27 years of wintering in Hollywood, FL with her husband. She liked to entertain and have friends and family over. The holidays she hosted were always filled with laughter, good food and homemade wine.
Theresa is survived by her children; Mary Olsen and her husband Sven of Stamford and Anthony Vartuli and his wife Denise of Stamford, her grandchildren; Dante Vartuli, Kirsten Torraco and her husband Michaelangelo, Michael Vartuli and his wife Daniela, Shawna Olsen and Nicole Vartuli, her great grandchildren; Hailee Rabbitt, Sidney Vartuli and Skyler Torraco, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Theresa was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael Vartuli, her brothers Joseph and Dominick Sorbara and her sister Susan Chappa.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT on Thursday, July 15, 2021, from 5:00PM to 7:30PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT 06902 on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 10:30AM. The internment will follow mass at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien, CT.
