Obituary for Martha L. Mullen
Martha Louise Mullen, 86, of Stamford, CT passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 in Branford CT after a brief but arduous fight with a sudden illness. Martha was born in New Haven, CT on April 12, 1935 to the late John and Alma Andrew Davidson.
Martha grew up in New Haven, CT with her twin sister, Cynthia and brother Bruce. After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design, she moved to Stamford where she worked as a designer of baby and juvenile products and later as a designer of framing for some local frames shop. Her most successful and favorite job was that of a mother, though. She loved having the neighborhood kids come over to play hide and seek and scare them with her witches voice. Martha was a brownie leader and girl scout troop leader for Victoria, and the loudest cheerleader at Jessica's little league games. Martha hand made all Halloween costumes and was a master baker right until the end. She loved country western line dancing, playing tennis, walking up the street every morning with neighborhood women and gardening in the summer. She became a crossing guard the last few years and made many friends with the parents and said good morning to all the children scolding them for not dressing warmly enough as she crossed them across Hope St. The thing that made her happiest and her favorite role in life was being a grandmother.
Martha is survived by her daughters, Victoria (Dan) Nemec, Jessica McKeown, her twin sister, Cynthia Hitchcock, her grandchildren, Sandy McKeown and grandson, Andrew Michaud. She also has many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Aside from her parents, Martha is predeceased by her brother, Bruce Davidson, her son in law, Jerry McKeown, her nieces, Sandra and Kim Hitchcock, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford, CT 06902 Monday, April 26 from 5PM to 8 PM. Martha asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Sandra McKeown/Andrew Michaud college fund, c/o Victoria Mullen, 38 Arden Lane, Stamford, CT 06905.
