Obituary for Arthur H. Ruffels

Arthur H. Ruffels, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2021. He was born on July 17, 1934 in Stamford to the late Margaret Potter Ruffels and James Ryle. He served in the US Navy and then shared his creative talents working as an Art Teacher for 10 years before joining the FBI where he served for 20 years. Art loved “the water” and was an excellent seaman and sailing enthusiast who enjoyed both racing and cruising. He loved sharing his knowledge of the water. Art also loved sports. He was a lifelong athlete, a coach, and an avid spectator.
Art and his bride, “Ing”, Inger Christensen Ruffels, were married for 67 years. In addition, he leaves his loving children, Karen M. Martin and her husband Joe, Arthur H. Ruffels and his wife Ellen Fortunato, and Joan E. Ruffels and her husband, Stephen Phillips, as well as 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother, George T. Ruffels and his wife Jane, and his sister, MaryJane Kreusser and her husband, Bill. He leaves several nieces and nephews as well wonderful long-time friends.
Besides his parents, Art was predeceased by his son, Jim Ruffels.
A Celebration of Life will be private.
The family is very grateful to Visiting Angels, The Residence at Summer Street, the ER staff at Stamford Hospital, and Hospice Care.
