Obituary for Vallery Dena O'Leary
Vallery Dena O’Leary (Caccavella), a lifelong resident of the Springdale section of Stamford, CT, peacefully passed away at her home on Sept. 1, 2020. Dena was born March 10, 1926 to the late Michael and Mary (Lapolla) Caccavella. Dena was 94 yrs old at the time of her passing.
Dena attended Springdale School, as well as Stamford High. She worked at Machlett Laboratory for many years and was a parishioner of St. Cecelia’s Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved her family more than anything else in the world. She was a very giving and selfless person and was loved by all who knew her.
Dena is survived by her daughter Valerie O’Leary Warren, grandson Michael Warren, granddaughter Jessica Warren Cusack, great granddaughter Aria Cusack and great grandson Charlie Cusack. Dena is also survived by her niece Terri Marino whom she loved very much. Their relationship was comparable to mother/daughter and Terri was a huge part of Dena’s life. She was truly blessed to have had such a wonderful and loving niece to care for her. Dena was well taken care of by her aide, Tara Jones. The family would like to publicly thank Tara for treating Dena as if she were family. Tara went above and beyond for Dena. We knew she was in good hands. and her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dena is preceded in death by her sisters Catherine Diacri, Jenny Origi, and brothers Anthony Caccavella, Pasquale Caccavella, and Frank Caccavella, as well as her niece Mary Romeo.
Due to restrictions as a result of COVID-19, a memorial service and her inurnment will be announced at a later date.
