Obituary for Katina Aivalis

Katina Aivalis, 93, a longtime Stamford resident passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2020. Katina was born on September 15, 1926 in Pellana, Greece, daughter of the late Panagiotis and Panagiota Koulogianis.
Katina was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Konstantinos Aivalis. She is survived by her daughter Paula Philippopoulos and son-in-law John; and her son Nick Aivalis, and her daughter-in-law Denise. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Katina and her family moved to the United States in 1966, in search of a better life. Katina’s dream was fulfilled here in the United States, but half of her heart always remained in Greece. 
Katina was known by all as a strong, opinionated, and very generous person. For her family she was a fearless and selfless human being who instilled positivity and always was a strong supportive force. She will be missed dearly by her family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT.  Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Stamford, CT.
