Obituary for Joseph F. Ulatowski

Joseph F. Ulatowski, Sr., 95, of Stamford, CT. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 29, 2020 at Stamford Hospital from natural causes.

He was born in Stamford on November 17, 1924 to the late John and Pauline (Sznytka) Ulatowski. He was a lifelong resident of Stamford, CT. At the age of 19 he enlisted in World War II and served as an Army Medic, Yankee 26th division, 3rd army under General Patton until his discharge in 1945. He worked at Yale and Towne lock factory and Pitney Bowes Inc., in Stamford Ct. until his retirement.

Joseph was an amazingly strong, caring, kind, loving and considerate person and dedicated to his family and friends. He was an inspiration to us all. He will be greatly missed and may he rest eternally in peace.

He is survived by his two sons John and Joseph Jr., five grandchildren, Michelle, Andrew, Richard, Nicholas and Matthew, four great-grandchildren, Lillian, Giada, Lucas, and Andrew Jr., nieces Mary Ann Morrell and Diane Hamernik, a nephew, Paul Hamernik, three great nieces Stephanie Morrell, Angela and Cindy Lodato and two great nephews John and Frank Lodato.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Angelina Lodato, in-laws John, Josephine, Jasper and Frank Lodato, a brother Vincent Ulatowski, his wife Doris and niece Linda, a sister Mary Hamernik and her husband Edward.

Family will receive relatives and friends at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue in Stamford on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 4:00-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 11:00am at St. Maurice Roman Catholic Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in Darien.
