She’s probably someone you remember meeting at school, work, some charity event or casual gathering, or most notably – the Fil-Am local basketball events. But to a lot of us fortunate enough to have known her, she’s simply a precious gem: the epitome of a good daughter, a doting sister, and a friend for keeps. There’s an aura surrounding her to which a lot of people gravitate. Maybe it’s because of how she carried herself when she walked into a room. Maybe because she genuinely didn’t allow any negativity bring her character down. Maybe it’s because she’s sincere and approachable. Maybe it’s because she’s selfless. Or maybe she truly just came across as a charismatic individual without a shroud of pretentiousness.
Her bravery in facing what she’s dealt with for so long is and will always be admirable. While we often complain about the various nuisances of our day-to-day lives, she on the other hand had been willing herself to give it her all and make the most of everyday. Living and cherishing every moment; creating lasting memories with family and friends. She’s living life on borrowed time, but undoubtedly cherished every waking moment. I am certain there were days when the situation seemed unbearable or downright exhausting, but she didn’t just give up. Instead, she still tried just as long as she could still do so. And on her good days when the situation was manageable, she didn’t just call it a day and do nothing. She actually spent time with family and friends, whether it’s through a simple activity or something impactful and worthwhile.
Her passing is a dagger to anyone’s heart. Anyone whose life she had touched one way or another. Solitude doesn’t exactly go away, but it makes it easier to deal with in time. We’ll find comfort in the memories she left behind and in knowing that she’s in a better place now. We’ll find solace in knowing she didn’t completely leave us, for she lives in those very same memories. I know she will be greatly missed, but her life will also be celebrated.
To Momsie, Dad, Arnie and Airah – I love you. No words are enough to ease the pain that you’re feeling right now, and I know it will take time. And to PJ – I can just imagine how painful this must for you, even if you’re trying your best not to break. There’s so many of us that admire you for being the best life partner Ariane could ever have – committed and sincere in your love. Ariane was such a wonderful person both inside and out, and she had made an impact on so many of us just by being in our lives. May God give you strength during this very difficult time and provide solace in knowing Ariane is in a better place now.
Li’l Sis – you may be gone, but never forgotten – for you live in the fond memories you have helped create with us. None of us could have prepared for losing you so suddenly. You will forever be greatly missed.
