Barbara M. Schuerger, 98, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Camillus Health Care Center. She was born on September 25, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY to the Late Emile and Kunigunda Bickel Schuerger.
Barbara was a graduate of Heffley School of Business in New York and was employed as a secretary at Nazareth Lonestar Cement Company for 20 years before her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. Benedict’s Church of Stamford for 35 years, President and Treasurer of the Legion of Mary at St. John’s Church of Stamford, a Eucharistic Minister with the homebound, Nocturnal Adoration Society, Rosary Society and Society of the Blessed Virgin, as well as a volunteer for St. Camillus for 10 years.
She is survived by her two nieces, Linda A. Young of NY, Dr. Emily Nicoll of DE and one nephew Dr. Raymond Schuerger, of PA.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Benedict’s RC Church, 1 St. Benedict Circle, Stamford at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens, NY. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 PM.
