Panagiotis G. “Pete the Greek” Katsaros, 78, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Norwalk Hospital. He was born in Kalamata, Greece on January 19, 1940 to the late Gregory D. and Maria Giannoukaki Katsaros.
Peter was an avid fisherman, he loved going on fishing trips with his son Gregory. Peter loved playing and watching soccer, he was also very proud of his garden. Peter is the former President of the Parish Council, he donated countless hours to the church. His love and support for his son and family was unsurpassed.
Peter is survived by his sister Toula Vakos of Stamford, his brothers Jimmy Katsaros and his wife Anna of PA., and George and his wife Elaine of Stamford. Peter is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and their children, along with many friends. He is also survived by his former spouse Paula Pahoulis.
Besides his parents, Peter is predeceased by his son Gregory P. Katsaros who passed on June 20, 2018. He is also predeceased by his four sisters Yianoula Michelis, Angeliki Panopoulos, Georgia Varotsis, and Voula Moustakas.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kostas and Eleni Kalmanides for their love and care.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Tuesday, November 6, 2028 at 10:30 AM for a funeral service to be celebrated at 11:00 AM at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 PM with a Trisagion service at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of his son Gregory P. Katsaros, and sister Toula Vakos, to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905
