Bertha Mae (Nelson) Frederick, 80, was born Aug 3, 1938 and departed this life on Monday, October 8, 2018 in Stamford, Connecticut. She was born in Rimini, South Carolina to the late Sara Nelson and Boston Hawkins and was the wife of the late Eddie Frederick (married over 45 years).
Bertha received her education in the South Carolina school system and relocated to Stamford, CT in the 1960’s. Where she spent most of her life as a domestic worker. Bertha had a personal relationship with the Lord as a Christian disciple and was a faithful member of Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church before joining Rehoboth Fellowship Church.
Our beloved mother was preceded in death by her brother William J. Nelson (Elaine), and Sister Doreatha Thomas. She is survived by three daughters: Gloria Permell (Lawrence) of CT, Andrea Frederick (Jesse) of CT, Kimberly Frederick of Stamford, CT and two sons: Alvin Frederick (Monique) of VA, Kevin Frederick (Dareen) of CT. She also leaves behind six loving sisters Betty Nelson (Alvin) of CT, Sheila Dukes of CT, Virginia James, Theresa Jordan, Viola Johnson of NC and Lucille Hawkins of FL, and eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, as well as a host of relatives, and lifelong friends.

Viewing hours will be held at Bethel AME Church, 150 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Stamford.
