Obituary for Anna Celia Chiello

Print
Anna Celia (Ceil) Chiello, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Stamford Hospital.
She had been battling health issues for several years. Other than a short time residing in Darien, her lifelong home was Stamford, CT – where she was born in 1926. Ceil was the daughter of the late Samuel and Emelia Hansen.

Ceil graduated from Stamford High School in 1944, working for American Cyanamid Company during HS and several years afterward. Ceil had a great deal of artistic talent – and was most notably a superlative soprano in her church choir, as well as an active member of the Schubert Club. She was also gifted in fine arts – whether with a paint brush, a pencil, or a pallet knife. She was devoted to her children and their families – and got a special enjoyment from attending birthday & holiday celebrations. Until facing more recent challenges, Ceil was an avid follower of the news - and always had a firm perspective on issues of the day. Ceil had an effortless charm. She could lift your spirits with an engaging smile and her special form of kindness. She had a very good heart, she believed deeply in sacrificing for her family, and was generous to all those who knew her - both personally and professionally. Many people would remember Ceil from the jewelry counter at Woolworth & later at Karp’s Hardware – both in Glenbrook.

Ceil is survived by her daughter Debbie Lucas & significant other Joe Corsello, her son Craig Chiello & wife Jean Phillips, and son Wayne Chiello & wife Judy / all of Stamford. She is also survived by
seven grandchildren; Amy, Stacie, Josh, Michael (& wife Caitlin), Jennifer, Christine, and William.
Additionally, Ceil had five great-grandchildren - AJ, Hailey, Brooke, Christopher, and Marlee.
Ceil was predeceased by her beloved husband William Chiello, who was taken from her at a young age.
Her brother, Andrew Hansen and sister, Hilma Banfield also predeceased her.
