Mark Joseph  Ronan
Mark Joseph Ronan, 55, passed away at his home peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, November 11th after a courageous battle.
Mark was born on May 4, 1962 in Queens, NY. He is the son of Joseph Francis Ronan, Ann Dixon Ronan and Jeanne Gaffney Ronan.
Mark graduated from Horace Greeley High School in Millwood, NY. There he made lasting friendships as a member of the Quaker football and baseball teams.
Mark is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY. Many memories and friendships were made at the Skeller where he was a bouncer and later the student manager. After graduation, he moved to New York and began a decades long career with American Express GBT. He met and married Maureen Palmer of Rochester, NY. They made a home in Stamford, CT.
Above all things, he devoted his life to his loved ones. He dedicated his time to North Stamford Little League, the Stamford Youth Foundation, and Westhill’s Touchdown and Crease Club. He was an active parishioner at St. Cecilia’s Church and involved with the local Cub Scout Pack 11.
Mark is survived by his devoted wife Maureen Palmer Ronan of 25 years, their cherished children Seamus Joseph Ronan of Harlem, NY, Brendan Patrick Ronan of Stamford, and Maeve Katherine Ronan of Stamford and his mother Jeanne Gaffney Ronan of Somers, NY. He is also survived by his siblings Monica Mary Ronan of Somers, NY, Maura Ronan Olson of Briarcliff, NY, her husband Larry and their children Annie, Peter and Katie. Many Aunts, Cousins, Brothers and Sisters in-law, as well as nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his loyal dog Bonnie.
He was predeceased by his father Joseph Francis Ronan and his mother Ann Dixon Ronan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 16th at 11:00AM at Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT, with the Rev. David J. Riley officiating. Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT, on Wednesday, November 15th from 3:00PM to 9:00PM. A private burial will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens, NY.
The Ronan family is so thankful for their supportive friends in the Stamford community who participated in the Be the Match Donor Drive and made Mark a beneficiary of the Allyson Rioux Memorial Foundation.
Throughout his journey, Mark and his family were constantly cared for by his incredible medical team at Stamford Hospital and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
