Marie “Nell” Fornaciari of Stamford, CT, formerly of Larchmont, NY, died peacefully on September 21, 2017, at the age of 97. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Marie Soriano Torre.
She was the loving wife of the late Amedeo (Ed) Fornaciari and the beloved sister of the late John, Joseph, Nick, and Emil Torre and their wives; and Louise Constantinople and Ann Porcelli and their husbands. She is survived by her daughters Susan Fornaciari Shirken and her husband Scott, and Sharon Fornaciari and her partner, Liz; and her son Stephen Fornaciari and his wife Margaret and their sons Alexander and Zachary. She will be forever missed by her large extended family and all who knew her.
Nell’s family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Antonios Katsigiannis and his wife Christine and their office staff for their extraordinary care and concern over the past several years. Additionally, the family wants to thank Nell’s devoted friends and caregivers Louise, Gayle, Rose, Nancy, Carol, and Joy, as well as the staff of West 1 at the Smith House for maintaining her dignity and quality of life with affection and compassion.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, September 25th at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, 230 Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, September 24th from 3 to7 PM.
