Catherine G. “Kay” Romanello, 93, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. She was born in Stamford on March 31, 1924 to the late Domenick and Mary Sgritta.
Kay was a Diagnostic Technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stamford from 1967 retiring as the Supervisor of her Department. She was a caregiver for both her parents for many years, and enjoyed travelling with her husband Andy throughout Europe.
She is survived by her son and caretaker, Daniel Romanello of Stamford, as well as her best friend and caretaker, Wendy Fick of Stamford, her sons, Andrew Romanello of Stamford and Donald Romanello of Framingham, MA. Also surviving is her sister, Jane Giannattasio of Stamford, her sister in law, Maryann Tartaglia of Bridgeport, three grandchildren, Amy Romanello, Justin Romanello, Lisa Brady and her husband Patrick and three great grandchildren, Alexzandria, Grace and Kieran, as well as her former daughters in law, Addie Bambridge, Mollie Romanello and Janet Blair.
Besides her parents, Kay was predeceased by her husband Andrew Romanello, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home is honored to assist the Romanello family with the arrangements.
