Obituary for Evangelia N. Vomvas (Kafantaris)

Evangelia N. Vomvas, 76, was born in Chios, Greece to the late Stelios and Stamatia Kafantaris. She moved to the United States in 1973 and was a resident of Fairfield for 41 years. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 4, 2017.
Evangelia is survived by: her daughter, Stella N. Katsetos of Fairfield; her son, Dimitrios N. Vomvas of Fairfield; grandchildren Maria N. and Nicholas J. Katsetos; sisters Paraskevi Kollis, Irene Kassoudakis, Stavroula Petrou, and Maria Nicolitsi; brothers Dimitris and Michael Kafantaris. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Vomvas was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Nikolaos D. Vomvas.
She was an active member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Bridgeport, CT..
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:30AM for a Funeral Service to be held at 11:00AM at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery. A Trisagion Service will be held at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home at 10:15AM. Family and friends may call to the funeral home on Friday between 9-10:30AM.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905. Donations can also be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06606.
