Gloria M. Furano, 87, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 12, 2017. She was born in Stamford on January 24, 1930 to the late Marco and Theresa Boccuzzi Dellaripa.
Gloria enjoyed every moment with her family, but her greatest joy was cooking for them. She especially loved the holidays and the traditions of Christmas Eve dinners and Good Fridays, making Pizza Gain with her family by her side.
Gloria leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children, Theresa Carlucci and her husband Dominick of West Haven, CT and Mark Furano and his wife Debbie of New Milford, CT, her four grandchildren, Nicole Stimpson, Jessica Saldibar, Noel DeLorenzo and Mark Furano, Jr., six great grandchildren, Brandon, Anthony, Juliana, Gianna, Augie and Nico. Also surviving are her sisters, Margaret Nette and her husband Joseph of Westport and Elizabeth (Betty) Maul of Darien.
Besides her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her loving husband Frank Furano.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. John’s RC Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
