Obituary for Costas P. ""Gus"" Vouthounis

Costas “Gus” P. Vouthounis, 86, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 13, 2017. He was born on March 3, 1930 in Sparta, Greece to the late Peter and Harriet Mentavlos Vouthounis.
Gus was employed as a machine operator at Pitney Bowes for thirty years before retiring in 1985.
He is survived by his devoted wife Georgia Nestoras Vouthounis of Stamford, his loving children, Harriet Ardavanis and her husband Dennis of Brooklyn, NY and Anastasios Vouthounis and his wife Eleftheria of Stamford, as well as a sister Katherine Kounavelis and her husband Pericles of Stamford, a brother Polizoes Vouthounes and his wife Christina of Stamford and five grandchildren, Georgia, Costas and Hellen Vouthounis and Spiro and Kostas Ardavanis.
Besides his parents, Gus was also predeceased by his sister Chrisoula Vouthounis.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 9:30 AM for a funeral service to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland Place, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM, with a Trisagion service to be held at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Costas’ memory to the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford, CT 06905
